There were three big stories to come out of Craig Counsell's daily presser with the media today...

- Chase Anderson is named the Brewers Opening Day Starting Pitcher. "I think Chase put together now, when healthy, over a year of really high quality starts," says Counsell. "This step Chase took last year I think started in 2016; it didn't probably go as noticed, but when we started talking about last spring, how our pitching had turned the corner in 2016, Chase was at the forefront of that." Our Insider Adam McCalvy has Chase Anderson's thoughts on the honor.

- Yovani Gallardo will work out of the bullpen for the duration of Spring Training. Counsel said there's still a possibility that Gallardo, assuming he makes the team, could have a spot-start, but the focus is to have him be "a once through the lineup" guy.

- Catcher Stephen Vogt had a setback in his throwing program today. Counsell didn't have any more details, but did say that Vogt has been shut down until further notice.
