Can the Brewers bounce back in San Diego?

June 18, 2019 - 6:36 am

The Brewers were blanked on Monday night by the Padres 2-0 in game one of a three-game series in San Diego. Joey Lucchesi pitched seven scoreless innings for the Padres who had given up 48 runs on 69 hits in a four game series with the Rockies. The Padres will send rookie Logan Allen to the mound on Tuesday to face Brandon Woodruff (8-1, 3.87 ERA) - Allen will become the fifth rookie to make his MLB debut for the Padres this season. The Brewers are hoping for a boost with Woodruff on the bump, the team is 12-2 in his starts this season including wins in his last 9 starts - in which he is 7-0 with a 3.39 ERA. Woodruff has been lights out with 96 strikeouts thus far in just over 81 innings of work. Woodruff is eighth on the NL Strikeout chart averaging 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings.... If the Brewers hope to take game two of the series they will need the bats to come alive after managing just four hits in Mondays 2-0 loss.
