Will Packers' young defenders step up again in 2019?

January 19, 2019 - 10:33 am

The Green Bay Packers' defense suffered a lot of injures in 2018. By Week 17, seven guys who projected as key contributors coming out of the offseason were, instead, sitting on injured reserve: Kenny Clark, Mike Daniels, Davon House, Kevin King, Nick Perry, Jake Ryan and Muhammad Wilkerson. That doesn’t include the likes of rookie cornerback Jaire Alexander who missed three weeks with a groin injury, or mid-season contributors like Raven Greene who also landed on injured reserve when all was said and done.

Those injuries made it hard to gauge the Packers defense last season, but a lot of young players showed promise. Blake Martinez led the team in tackles, Kyler Fackrell led the team in sacks, Kenny Clark was named an alternate for the Pro Bowl and Jaire Alexander got an All-Pro vote. So, can the Packers young, defensive core take the defense (and the team) to the next level in 2019? Read more here.
