Thames hits huge walk-off against the Rangers

The Crew win four straight

August 10, 2019 - 12:23 am

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Texas Rangers after a monster home run from Eric Thames propelled the Crew to a 6-5 victory.

The Crew has now won four straight games and are only 2.5 games out of the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs.

Outside of the walkoff, this was a very forgettable game for the Brewers. The pitching staff walked 10 batters in the game; eight of those came with two outs.

Josh Hader threw nearly 50 pitches in less than 2 innings of work, blowing the save. The bullpen combined for seven walks and four earned runs in four innings of work.

The Brewers got a little help from Texas' pitching as well. They walked eight Brewers themselves as no one could hit the strike zone on either side.

That all came to a pinnacle point in the seventh when a single from Yasmani Grandal scored two, and a double from Manny Pina scored another as the Crew took a 5-2 lead that the bullpen would inevitably end up blowing.

Nonetheless, no matter how ugly, a win is a win. And the Brewers did just that today thanks to some strong and timely offense.
