Wisconsin, Alabama announce home-and-home series

July 29, 2019 - 3:10 pm

Wisconsin's cardinal and white. Alabama's crimson and white. Fans who bleed all shades of red -- for both football programs -- will be seeing plenty of red in Madison and Tuscaloosa in the not too distant future.

The Wisconsin and Alabama athletic departments announced, Monday, a home-and-home football series between the two high-profile programs starting in 2024. The teams will face-off in Madison in 2024 and in Tuscaloosa in 2025.

The programs have only met twice before. In 1928, Wisconsin won a 15-0 affair. In a 2015 meeting at AT&T Stadium -- home of the Dallas Cowboys -- Alabama gouged Wisconsin 35-17.

While Alabama has enjoyed a much higher level of success (see five National Championships over the past 10 seasons), both programs are among the nation's premier models of consistent success. They are two of just seven football programs with more than 100 wins over the past 10 seasons. They're also two of just 12 teams with active, double-digit streaks of years with a bowl game appearance. The Badgers have appeared in a bowl game for 15 consecutive season. The Crimson Tide have appeared in a bowl game for 13 consecutive seasons.
