ST LOUIS -- In what could be one of the most important games of the season, facing the best pitcher in the NL in the second half and a potential two game defecit to the Cubs, the Brewers answered with a resounding 5-2 win over Jack Flaherty and the Cardinals.

Jordan Lyles was fantastic on the mound, going six innings, allowing only one earned run on the night and outdueling the scorching hot Jack Flaherty, who also went six innings but allowed three Brewers to cross the plate.

Mike Moustakas and Yasmani Grandal both provided two run home runs for the Crew, and the Brewers bullpen shut out the powerful Cardinals lineup in relief of Jordan Lyles.

The rubbermatch of this three game series is Sunday afternoon: Chase Anderson will take on Michael Wacha.
