Brewers bullpen implodes

OAK 5, MIL 3

August 01, 2019 - 6:32 pm

OAKLAND - Chase Anderson threw six solid innings of one run ball, but his bullpen couldn't back him up today, as the Brewers dropped the game and the series to the A's, 5-3.

When Chase left the game, the Brewers had a 3-1 lead, but Junior Guerra gave up a run in the 7th, Josh Hader surrendered the lead in the 8th on Matt Chapman's two run homer, and Jay Jackson gave up another run in that 8th inning.

The bullpen isn't the only facet of the Brewers to blame for the loss though - the offense left 10 runners on base, and hit 1-9 with runners in scoring position on the day. One bright part of the day though was Trent Grisham, who recorded his first career RBI in his first career game, on a sac fly in the 4th inning.

The Brewers will immediately head to Chicago to take on the Cubs, Zach Davies will face Jose Quintana at 1:20 Friday afternoon.
