Brewers clinch postseason berth, beat Cardinals 2-1

September 26, 2018 - 10:52 pm

ST. LOUIS -- The Brewers clinched a 2018 playoff spot, Wednesday, beating the Cardinals 2-1. It marks the team's fifth playoff appearance in franchise history, and their first since 2011. Christian Yelich drew five walks in the victory, and made the Cardinals pay; he scored both of the Brewers runs, coming around both times on a Travis Shaw single. Those third-inning and fifth-inning runs did the trick thanks, in part, to a solid outing from Jhoulys Chacín. Chacín threw five innings, allowed the lone Cardinals run and surrendered just one hit and two walks. Xavier Cedeño, Corbin Burnes and Josh Hader each earned a hold with scoreless relief outings. Jeremy Jeffress locked down the final four outs to earn the save. Full Story Here.
