After a nearly four month hiatus, the 2020 Milwaukee Brewers season got underway with a thud as the Brewers muster just three hits against Cubs' starter Kyle Hendricks, who was on his game all night. Hendricks hurled a complete game shutout and struck out nine Brewers in his first start after several months off. Final score: Cubs 3 Brewers 0.

The three Milwaukee hits all came off the bat of Orlando Arcia, who was the number nine hitter in the Brewers' lineup. Christian Yelich, Keston Hiura and Justin Smoak all struck out twice on the night. The Cubs got a two run shot from Ian Happ in the third and a solo shot from Anthony Rizzo in the eighth.

Game 2 of the three game set down at Wrigley is Saturday. First pitch at 12:10.
