Brewers fall to Cubs 5-2 after ninth-inning collapse

MILWAUKEE - The Brewers have shown flashes of brilliance in the ninth inning and later this season. Saturday afternoon, those heroics were not on display. Instead, they squandered a 2-1 lead headed into the final frame and fell to the Cubs 5-2 in Game 3 of the four-game homestand. Jacob Barnes blew the save and took the loss allowing four runs, three earned, in the top of the ninth. An Eric Thames homer and a sac-fly RBI from Lorenzo Cain provided the two Milwaukee runs. Zach Davies struck out eight and allowed just one run in the start - a substanial improvement from his first outing of the season. Full story here.
