Packers extend DL Lowry

July 23, 2019 - 5:12 pm

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- A consistent presence on the Packers' defensive line, Dean Lowry will be rolling into training camp with a shiny, new contract:

Lowry is entering his fourth NFL season and the final season of his rookie contract and was scheduled to make $2.1 million. A star? No. But the N-F-L stands for Not For Long unless you can prove yourself reliable and avilable, two things Lowry has excelled at.

The 25-year-old defensive end has missed just one game (during his rookie season and not due to injury) including playoffs since being drafted out of Northwestern. He's started at least half of the team's games in each of the past two seasons. He doesn't stuff the stat sheet -- just seven sacks and 13 tackles for loss in his career -- but his 84 career tackles have helped the Packers' control the opposing ground game and remain competitive at the line of scrimmage.
