Howard named Big East Player of the Year

Markus Howard earned some hardware, Wednesday:

The junior guard averaged 25 points per game this season -- best in the Big East. He scored 25 or more in 17 of Marquette's 31 games, three of those performances came against ranked opponets. His 25 points-per-game average was a career high; he also averaged a career-best 4 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. He did, however, post a career-worst .431 field goal percentage. 

The Golden Eagles finished the season with a 23-8 record (ranked No. 23 in the nation), finishing second in the Big East standings. Howard led the team in points, assists and steals per game.
