Jeffress' Opening Day status in question

March 07, 2019 - 2:46 pm

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Jeremy Jeffress made his Spring Training debut, Wednesday, against the Diamondbacks. It was a short outing (just three pitches) in which Jeffress was yanked over velocity concerns, his fastball failing to crack 85 mph on the radar gun. The prognosis? Shoulder weakness -- unforunate news for the 2018 All-Star reliever who was expected to help anchor the back end of a deep Brewers bullpen. That depth, though, will work in the Crew's favor; it affords them the opportunity to back things off for Jeffress in an attempt to get him right.

The weakness puts the chance of Jeffress' availability on Opening Day in jeopardy. Adam McCalvy has more at Brewers.com.

Robert Murray, Brewers writer for The Athletic-Wisconsin, also discussed Jeffress' status on the Bill Michaels Show, Thursday. He discussed that and more on the Crew, LISTEN BELOW
