Brewers option Burnes, Petricka to Triple-A

April 19, 2019 - 3:23 pm

MILWAUKEE -- To say that Corbin Burnes has been off his game in the early going of 2019 would be an understatement.

The young right-hander has suffered through a 10.70 ERA, and hasn't lasted more than five innings, in his four starts this season. To put things in perspective, he's already...

-Allowed the same number of home runs this year as he did total runs (11) last year

-Given up more hits than he did last year (30)

-Walked eight batters in 2019, versus 11 in all of 2018

The early results are not good, and the options to do something about it were fairly limited for the Brewers. So, the team decided to let Burnes figure things out in the minors with AAA-San Antonio. Relief pitcher Jake Petricka was also optioned to Triple-A. Reliever Alex Wilson (reinstated from paternity list) and left-hander Donnie Hart (called up from Triple-A) will take their spots on the MLB roster. Read more here.
