Nelson back on IL

June 28, 2019 - 2:57 pm

MILWAUKEE -- Jimmy Nelson has found his way back to the trainer's table, just 14 innings into his MLB return. The team placed the right-hander on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 26, with a right elbow effusion.

Effusion is an abnormal accumulation of fluid around a joint, commonly caused by injury, infection or arthiritis. Symptoms include swelling, pain and stiffness in the joint.

Nelson had been relegated to a bullpen role, following three starts. His cummulative ERA sits at 8.36.

Burnes made just one Triple-A appearance during his stint with the San Antonio Missions. In an "opener" role, he threw two perfect innings with two strikeouts. His pitch count in that outing reached 24, 17 of which were for strikes -- a positive sign as he returns to the bigs.
