Can Houser bring success to rotation?

PREVIEW: Brewers vs Mariners Gm2

June 26, 2019 - 2:44 pm

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers need to find an answer in to their starting rotation woes. Will they find one tonight as Adrian Houser heads to the hill in Game 2 against the Seattle Mariners? Don't bet on it.

Houser has been stellar in the Brewers' bullpen this season. Since making his first relief appearance on (SSSSS), Houser has allowed just three earned runs (four overall) in 25.2 innings pitched for a 1.05 reliever ERA. He's allowed just one home run, while striking out 29 and walking 10. That success is the reason the team is giving him another crack at starting, but Houser's results in that role are not nearly as good.

Though he has officially made two starts this season, one such start was made as an "opener" for Freddy Peralta. That "start" went well for Houser; two hits and no runs through two innings. However, in his other start, things didn't pan out in Houser's favor. He lasted just six innings...total...surrendering five earned runs, 11 hits and two home runs -- a 7.50 ERA.

One way or another, Houser will be tasked with securing a win for the Crew. Game Preview
