STL 6, MIL 3

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers dropped Game 3 against the Cardinals 6-3 on Wednesday.

Corbin Burnes started and got shelled, again, taking his second loss of the season. Burnes lasted just three and one-thirds innings, allowing five earned runs on nine hits -- two of them home runs -- and two walks with three strikeouts. It was Burnes shortest outing of the year thus far and the first start in which he allowed fewer than three home runs. His ERA has now ballooned to 10.70.

Aaron Wilkerson came on in relief of Burnes to make his 2019 Brewers debut and made his presence felt on the mound...and at the plate. Wilkerson hit a two-run home run -- his first MLB hit -- to get the Brewers on the board in the fifth. He also threw four innings of one-run ball while fanning three and walking none.

Jeremy Jeffress returned to big-league action in the loss, too; he tossed two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout and no hits, walks or runs allowed.

Christian Yelich's home run bonanza against St. Louis came to end; he finished with 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk. Read more here.
