The AAF, Alliance of American Football, has kicked off and in a big way.

Between regional action of the San Diego Fleet at the San Antonio Commanders, and the Atlanta Legends at the Orlando Apollos, Nielsen ratings say that both games averaged more than 2.9 million viewers for the 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. time slot.

The NBA’s TV ratings, between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets….that game drew a rating of 2.54.

Now there are some variables such as the NBA is in the midst of it’s season and the AAF is a new, novel thing to witness but this also reiterates that we are a football crazy country.

If I’m the NBA, I may worry just a bit that your prime time marquee match-up of Westbrook and Harden couldn’t out-draw an offshoot of the new America’s favorite past time.
