Former Lions HC Caldwell On The Packers List

The failed Lions head coach, Jim Caldwell has reportedly interviewed for the Packers head coaching job.

Caldwell does come with an impressive resume.  He has won a Super Bowl with the Ravens and has worked with the likes of Peyton Manning and did make Matthew Stafford a better quarterback while he was with Detroit but, in all honesty, I thought that Caldwell was always somewhat milk-toast and a softer coach.  We keep thinking that Aaron Rodgers needs a tougher minded coach to bring out the best of Aaron again.  Someone who will tell him like it is and someone that Rodgers will respect for numerous reasons.

Keep in mind, in 2009, Caldwell took over for Tony Dungy and went 14-2 and lost in the Super Bowl to the New Orleans Saints.  In 2011, It was the reverse and Caldwell went 2-14.  That was the year that Manning sat out with the neck injury remember.  In 2010 the Colts went 10-6 and won their division.

I don’t know what to make of Caldwell but something in my gut tells me that he’s not the right guy.

A good man, solid offensive coordinator but head coach who has one short shot to turn the Packers around……I don’t feel good about it.
