Extra Innings On Opening Day

Ryan Braun, Manny Pina and Johnathan Villar went 0 for 12 collectively.  Corey Knebel blew his first save opportunity of the season and the Brewers hung on in 12 innings to knock off the San Diego Padres 2-1.

Today, is over-reaction Friday, the day AFTER Opening Day.

Knebel will save games again and Braun, Villar and Pina will all hit again.

Must I remind you that Knebel had 39 saves last year with only 6 blown save opportunities?  He enjoyed a closer season for the ages. He became only the third pitcher in history with at least 35 saves, 125 strikeouts and an ERA beneath 2.00.  So, don’t panic people.

The positives were the new look outfield of Cain, Yelich and Santana went 6 of 14 and Chase Anderson, the Brewers starter, went 6 strong scoreless innings in his 2018 debut.

Bottom line, is if you take the good with the bad and stack the wins along the way, you’ll be a very happy Brewers fan.

By the way, yes, there were already fans angry with Counsel for not having Pina drop down a bunt to advance Santana in the top of the 12th when he led off the inning with a single.
