Protest Til It Hurts Your Wallet

It’s being reported that some higher profile NFL players are considering boycotting the season until former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and safety Eric Reed get jobs.

While other national celebrities, politicians and a growing group of fans support this effort, I have to admit, I find this farfetched.

I understand that the fight between the players and owners in the NFL is nothing more than muscle flexing.  Owners just want this controversy to go away.  The Players want their right to protest whenever and in whatever manner they see fit.  There really doesn’t seem to be any middle ground here.

Meanwhile, the fans are forced to either watch this off field battle go on without any end in sight or, take sides.  Which some have and it’s result in heated and passionate feelings.

I think this will play out just like any other player, ownership battle.  Once fines start to grow and paycheck’s start to be lost, the players will ultimately give in to their own wellbeing….their own ability to make a living.
