Green Bay, WI - The Packers have released quarterback DeShone Kizer.

Kizer, at 6-foot-4, 235 lbs. is an athletic 23-year-old quarterback who was a 2nd round pick for the Cleveland Browns in 2017.

The Browns traded Kizer to Green Bay for cornerback Damarious Randall. They then drafted quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Kizer lacked "consistency" and accuracy according to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur when asked about Kizer's progress during training camp. LaFleur said Kizer needs to improve making decisions quicker, and planting his feet before throws to improve accuracy.

The move suggests Tim Boyle is now the back-up to Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

In offensive drives lead by Boyle in the preseason, he outscored Kizer 51-17 in total points scored.
